Triad Information Reading Service (TIRS) links people who are blind, visually or print impaired to their Piedmont Triad community through audio access to printed material.

The Triad Information Reading Service is looking for volunteers who would be willing to read the local North Carolina State and Local news to our listeners. Given the advances in technology, it is now possible to read from the comfort of your own home without having to visit a specific studio to read. If you have a computer, compatible USB headset, either a Dropbox or Google Drive account, and experience with recording software, you already have the tools necessary for this opportunity. Please contact us at tirs@wfu.edu for more information.

When listening to TIRS using a smart speaker such as the Amazon Alexa line of devices, please use the following phrase: “Alexa, play T I R S on TuneIn”.

In an effort to provide you with the best listening experience possible, TIRS has entered into a collaboration project with the Mountain Area Radio Reading Service in Asheville. This new opportunity will expand our volunteer team, while also providing critical funding and exciting new program content. As a result, our website is currently under construction, but please do check back often for the very latest on TIRS.
